Interesting interview, Boaz!

Re: Soldiers of Conscience

Doug ·
I'll have to see this. I was never in combat during my time in the Army but I knew what i signed up for. Being part of a tank crew there were never any questions about what we were supposed to do. There are no peace time applications for a 63 ton M1A2 Main Battle Tank. At the same time we practiced by shooting other tank sized silhouettes and we never gave any consideration that there was a crew of 3 or 4 in the opposing vehicle that we were shooting at. We were just knocking out another...

Very well done. I think this will be very interesting to watch. We just finished watching The War series from the History chanel. Very emotional, as I feel this will be too. Good job, Boaz.

Very energetic women....so, how's the incorporation of those exercises going? Are you able to still walk?

So far, I'm walking fine. I tried to recruit April and Paul into joining me for a set of the squats this morning, but they were content to just watch...

Why does that not surprise me?

Re: Jonny Polonsky In Studio

Rosemary O'Neill ·
I have to say that Jonny Polonsky is one of those soundtrack of our lives artists. When I hear any song from that album, my mind goes back to a happy place. And Evil Scurvy Love is one of my favorites...it may just be the only use of the word scurvy in a song title ever.

Re: Vanessa Carlton

Lori ·
Wow, the kazoo bit was AWEsome! And Victor?? What a handsome dude! He was SO cute! About the infused vodka: I'm not a big drinker, but just a few years ago, I got myself in trouble at a choir party with infused vodka (there were too many flavors to try...what can I say?). I am STILL apologizing to the altos in the choir for a comment I made in my drunken indiscretion.... BEWARE OF INFUSED VODKA!

Re: Vanessa Carlton

Boaz ·
Thanks for the warning. I actually asked Vanessa if I could sample some of her vodka, but she said they were just starting a new batch now. She promised that she'd send me some when it was done, but I'm still waiting for that package...

Re: Tao Lin Interview

chris ·
Local weekly seattle paper, The Stranger has a piece in it's latest issue called From Lowest to Highest: The Levels of Greatness a Fiction Writer Can Achieve in America from Tao Lin. Amusing, but kind of lost on me since I don't really know the names of authors. HA! Also his Me vs. the Audience piece is awesome! It is a review of the audience at the Elliot Bay appearance which took place just after this interview.

Re: Tao Lin Interview

Well, that was VERY interesting. Didn't do anything to change my perception of him....

Re: John Cusack on Grace is Gone

Ted O'Neill ·
Hi Doug- Boaz saw it at the Sundance Film Festival last January. Movies are shown there before they are actually released. It is being released to theatres soon. Here is the website for the movie: http://www.graceisgone-themovie.com/

Re: John Cusack on Grace is Gone

Doug ·
it's funny, they were talking about this today on a local movie oriented radio show. It's amazing how they screen it at a film festival like Sundance but don't release it to the public for almost a year later. thanks for the info Ted!

Re: John Cusack on Grace is Gone

Boaz ·
In some cases, they actually make changes to the movie, (for this film they wrote a new musical score), but other times a studio might hold on to a movie for upwards of a year just to build up buzz or plan a marketing campaign.

That looks like a vodka bottle. Chugging vodka would be more interesting and also more lethal. Glad she stuck to water. Oh, and as for the last question: turkey and swiss. In fact, a footlong double turkey with swiss on italian bread from Subway. Go forth, Boaz, to the Subway on 2nd and Battery.

Re: Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players

That is a very much better video for Mountain Trip to Japan. The earlier one I saw didn't have the slides in it, which means half of their genius was ignored.

There aren't a lot of chances to visit a house built in the 1600s where I live, but I got a chance to see a few in France. Big old houses have an odd feel to them, as though the wood has soaked up the accumulated lives of its inhabitants. SuBe, I really want to attend, and I urge anyone in the Seattle area who has an interest to do so. However, my daughter is too young to see the films, and I'll be spending this weekend with her. (I should point out that I spend *every* weekend and weekday...

That was a totally un-solicited plug, too! (Except for giving him the book earlier, that is.) As you can imagine, he's a very high-energy performer, which makes it all the more amazing that he can actually still tour.

Re: Ours

Lori ·
Nice, Chris....when did you discover this? The video IS kinda creepy, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the interview, too. Why IS it so hard to open for Marilyn Manson? Why is the audience so hostile? Is that just the crowd he draws, or is it because they are there to see an opening band, or what?
Comment

Re: Ours

Boaz ·
Marilyn Manson fans are, (or at least think of themselves as), pretty hardcore, so they don't practice much hospitality when it comes to opening bands. I guess they are just there to see Manson, and anyone else just stands in the way...
