I can still remember the first time I heard Jonny Polonsky's debut record, "Hi, My Name Is Jonny". The songs exploded out my speakers with an infectious energy that was completely authentic. Here was melody and passion in songs that were so catchy that you swore that they had to be covers of pop classics.
The story that went along with this debut was equally interesting... a young guy seemingly plucked out of obscurity by a rock god (Frank Black of the Pixies).
Since that debut over 10 years ago, however, there have only been a couple of records from Jonny. Anxious to find out what he was up to these days, I met with him in his California studio. I discovered that he is very much alive and well, working with several notable artists and bands, while still pursuing his solo career.
In this video, you'll see portions of our interview with Jonny, as well as some solo acoustic performances. After you have watched this video, you may want to check out our bonus video of Jonny singing a new (unreleased) song: Fill Me With Love.
