I got a chance to meet up with one of my favorite bands,
The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, when they performed at Seattle's Crocodile Cafe. Now based in New York, the Trachtenburgs lived in Seattle for about ten years, and they seemed happy to be back in town. For those of you new to the group, here are the basics-
The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players compose songs to old slides they find at estate sales, then project the slides as they play their songs. And yes, they really are a family. Jason (husband/dad), writes the songs and plays guitar and keyboard, Tina (wife/mom) operates the slide projector, and Rachel (daughter) plays the drums and sings back-up. Their first song, (and one of my favorites), was
Mountain Trip to Japan. Here's a music video of that first song that should give you a good feel for what they do:
I chatted with Jason Trachtenburg about the genesis of the group, being a family band, and the future of rock and roll. You can check out the official
Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players site

here.
Also, this was our last interview filmed in the now gone, (but not forgotten), Crocodile Cafe. RIP Croc...
